Home Buyers With Bad Credit Can Still Buy Homes February 17, 2008

It’s no secret that home foreclosures are on the rise this year, and the number of filed default notices are skyrocketing in some areas of the country over last year.
You can blame it on the appreciation explosion — the wheeling-dealing-home-buying frenzy of the past five years — and say that lots of home buyers got in over their heads by taking out loans they didn’t understand and didn’t qualify for, or that the market has turned soft so home owners are finding themselves upside down, owing more on the mortgage than their home is worth, but the reasons don’t matter because they can’t be undone.
What does matter is whether individuals who have lost a home through foreclosure, filed bankruptcy or for whatever reason have discovered their credit is now less than stellar, can still buy a home. Bad credit alone isn’t enough of a deterrent to many mortgage lenders and, for some buyers, it’s probably not as bad as they may imagine.
Put your fears aside. Just because you have bad credit, filed bankruptcy or gone through a foreclosure does not mean you cannot buy a home. You most certainly can buy a home with bad credit.
If you are considering buying with bad credit, you have choices. You just need to know your options and where to look for bad credit loans.
Choose The Right Furniture That Can Expand Your Storage Space February 16, 2008
Posted by Vedis The Home Lover in : Furniture Shopping , add a commentDo you tend to put something anywhere there is room? Do you continue to buy until you fill up any space you have? If your home is overflowing with “things”, you might want to use some of our organizing strategies to find the right place for everything.
1. Skirted Tables. A skirted table can hide a myriad of things in almost any room of your house. You’ll need a tablecloth that goes to the floor. It can be something as simple as a large sheet that coordinates with your decor. For a really fashionable look, layer 2 or 3 different length cloths and trim one or all with decorative tassles, fringe, or beads.
Use any table you have, or put a plywood top over a base. You can buy a pre-cut round or rectangular plywood top at most home improvement centers.
Place your table top over a pre-cut base, small bookcase, low filing cabinet, or even trash can turned upside down. Camoflage your base of choice with a floor-length tablecloth.
The space hidden below the top can be used to store almost anything. Stack books or boxes, bedside clutter, or craft supplies underneath. Hide a television underneath and just lift the skirt to watch your favorite shows.
2. Furniture. When you’re shopping for furniture, think ahead to how you’ll use the piece. An armoire offers lots of shelves, yet looks wonderful in almost any room of the house.
A chest of drawers doesn’t have to be large, but can provide more storage than a side table. A coffee table with drawers can hide things that a beautiful glass-topped table could.
Choose a bench with a hinged lid for the end of a bed or under a window. Use the space inside to store blankets, sheets, extra towels, out-of-season clothes, or toys.
Air Duct Cleaning To Improve The Quality Of Your Indoor Air February 15, 2008
Posted by Vedis The Home Lover in : House Cleaning Tips , add a commentResearch by the American Lung Association has shown that a majority of Americans (87%) are not aware that the indoor air quality of most American homes is more polluted than the air outside.
Indoor air quality in the home plays a major role in your respiratory health, particularly if you suffer from asthma or allergies. Fortunately, there are some simple action steps you can take to improve your living space before looking for air duct cleaning services:
• Keep your house clean and free of dust.
• Control all biological allergens such as pollen from outside, dust mites, pet dander, mold, and mildew.
• Increase ventilation. Use exhaust fans when cooking, showering, and using the dishwasher.
• Make sure your clothes dryer is vented to the outdoors.
• Maintain a comfortable temperature and low humidity.
• Do not allow smoking in the house. Avoid using a wood-burning stove or fireplace. Make sure it is airtight if you do use one.
• Avoid using perfumes or scented cleaning sprays. Use trigger sprays instead of aerosols.
• Improve air filtration.
However, you should consider having the air ducts in your home cleaned if there is substantial visible mold growth inside hard surface ducts or on other components of your heating and cooling system.
Duct cleaning generally refers to the cleaning of various heating and cooling system components of forced air systems, including the supply and return air ducts and registers, grilles and diffusers, heat exchangers heating and cooling coils, condensate drain pans , fan motor and fan housing, and the air handling unit housing.
Look for air duct cleaning service providers using air duct cleaning equipments and tools manufactured by Heat Seal Equipment Ltd to improve the quality of your indoor air. The duct cleaning machines are powered by gas, diesel and electric.
Heat Seal Equipment Ltd also supplies not only the best quality fiberglass insulation blowing machine and cellulose insulation machine but also the most affordable machine to insulation blowing and spraying contractors.
While finding the best air duct cleaning service provider, talk to at least three different service providers and get written estimates before deciding whether to have your ducts cleaned.
When the service providers come to your home, ask them to show you the contamination that would justify having your ducts cleaned.
10 Decorating Dos For Your Home February 14, 2008
Posted by Vedis The Home Lover in : Home Decorating / Storage Ideas , add a commentThe rules of interior decorating can be as solid as a rock or as open to interpretation as the sky. But many experts agree that learning the rules can be the first step toward freely breaking those rules when necessary. Here are some of the decorating dos.
1. Do sketch your floorplan and record the room dimensions, window sizes and placement, and the location of special features, electrical outlets, and so on.
Take your floorplan with you when you shop.
2. Do take the time to discover your personal style by reading shelter magazines, attending showhouses, and browsing online and in stores to learn what styles and colors really appeal to you.
3. Do identify the focal point of the room (a fireplace, a view, a bed, an armoire).
4. Do define a room’s style in writing , being specific. Not just “country French”, but “French Country with a rooster motif, chicken wire cupboard fronts, and a color scheme that includes black and gold.” (more…)
So You Think You Want To Remodel Your Bathroom February 12, 2008
Posted by Vedis The Home Lover in : Bathroom Remodeling , add a commentThe smallest room in your home will undoubtedly require the largest number of professionals to remodel. A plumber, tiler, electrician, flooring installer, painter and cabinet installer will be called on to transform your bathroom—unless you’re terribly talented, handy, and patient.
One of the first things you’ll consider when thinking about a bathroom remodel is the bath sinks. There are many styles of bath sinks to choose from today. You’re not limited to the standard white porcelain bowl. Your options are many, including glass, marble, granite or ceramic free-standing bowls to molded Corian and faux marble.
The elegant bathroom you’re designing will definitely need two sinks. You can place them next to each other on a long countertop set atop a beautiful cabinet. Or block out a place on each side of the room for a single sink. Each person will be able to use their sink without rubbing elbows.
Some redesigned bathrooms have the sink in front of a window to take advantage of the natural light. The traditional mirror is found, framed, on another wall.
With extra floor space, you might select two elegant pedestal sinks in either traditional or contemporary designs. Using pedestal sinks will make the room more open, but not provide storage space. So be sure to have cabinets handy!
The faucets on the sinks will serve as the jewelry for the room and should be chosen with great care.
Whether you select traditional polished chrome devonshire faucets or the newer styles of brushed nickel or antiqued bronze aberdeen faucets, these items will be the finishing touch on a major transformation.
Do you dream of a moen showhouse sunken whirlpool tub for leisurely soaking? Does your Victorian home require a claw-foot tub with a hand-held brass showerhead? The least expensive alternative is a pre-molded fiberglass unit which incorporates both shower and tub.
The next most important selection you’ll make is the toilet. There are almost as many choices for toilets as there are for sinks or tubs. If you want a vintage look, you can choose a pull-chain flushing mechanism. If you want ultra-modern, how about a remote-controlled model? There are models with a built-in bidet for saving precious floor space.
Decorating the bathroom, whether it means a fresh coat of paint or a total remodel or something in between, can be a fun and rewarding project. Plan well and be patient, and you’ll love the results.

With the pop star committed to a psychiatric hospital, her new attorney Adam Streisand represented her in court and was asked to reveal details of the singer’s worth.
This comes after her father Jamie was given control of his troubled daughter’s financial and legal affairs in an emergency hearing on Friday, 01 Feb 08.
Streisand, who is Barbra Streisand’s second cousin, asked the court commissioner to reconsider Jamie Spears’ new role as conservator of his client’s.

6 Simple Things To Do To Protect Your Mail From Identity Thieves February 5, 2008
Posted by Vedis The Home Lover in : Home Safety Tips , add a commentBy now, you likely know that identity theft is the fastest growing crime in the United States. The United States Post Office does acknowledge that a victim’s mail is involved in most of them. It is not a coincidence, that as cases of identity theft continue to climb so do incidence of stolen mail.
Take for example, the situation in the paradisal state of Hawaii who ranks No. 15 in the nation for identity theft complaints. Mail theft is more out of control at residential mailboxes if compared to commercial mailboxes. It would of course be a hard fact to deny, seeing that Hawaii has seen a 1,403% increase in stolen mail in the last few years.
Now that you understand how your mail can essentially hand over your good name to an identity thief-it is time to learn what next steps and precautions you can take to guard against it.
Here are some simple things that you can do to protect your mail from thieves:
1. Never send cash or coins in the mail. Doing so is just asking for trouble. Instead, send checks or money orders and wrap them in an additional paper inside a security envelope.
2. Promptly remove your mail after delivery. If this is not possible, consider purchasing a locking mailbox that allows the postal carrier to deliver the mail, but prohibits the mail from being removed without a key or combination.
3. You may also be able to rely on a friend or relative to pick up your mail, on a rare occasion that you are not home.
Remember though, 25% of all identity thieves are someone that victims know.
4. Contact your local post office to hold your mail. While you’re on vacation or away from your home for an extended periods of time don’t let your mail sit in your mailbox just waiting for someone to steal it.
5. Be alert for mail that you are expecting but don’t receive. If you don’t receive a check or other valuable mail that you’re expecting, contact the issuing agency immediately. If they sent it out and you should have received it, contact your local Post Office.
6. Never send mail by placing it in your mailbox for the carrier to pick up when they deliver. Always deposit your mail in a mail slot at your local post office, or hand it to your letter carrier. Thieves drive around your neighborhood looking for those mailboxes with the little red flag up, obviously indicating that there is outgoing mail.
10 Tips For Buying Wood Furniture February 5, 2008
Posted by Vedis The Home Lover in : Furniture Shopping , add a commentHow good is that desk or bookcase you’re thinking of buying? How can you tell if the construction is sound, the drawers will work, the hardware is durable?
1. Feel the weight of drawers and doors. High-quality furniture has a sense of weight, scale and solidity to it.
2. Large cabinets, entertainment centers or sideboards should have leveling devices in the base. Keeping big items level is important because otherwise doors tend to stick.
3. There should be sash locks (metal latches) under the table leaves and table top.
4. When you buy wood furniture, drawers should work smoothly and should not bind when extended.
5. Drawer interiors should be smooth to the touch, sanded and sealed.
6. Glass shelves should be at least 3/8 inches thick and have plate grooves.
7. Better-end display and china cabinets should have halogen lighting, line switches and rheostats. (more…)
