House Cleaning Tips

Hubby and I are staying at my aunt’s house for a few days. While hubby goes to the hospital to do foot reflexology treatment for my uncle, I help my aunt with some light cleaning at home.

Each time after a quick 15 minute cleanup, I will take my sweet time relaxing on the massage chair or listening to some soothing music.

This morning I just completed another round of quick 15 minute cleanup. I managed to clear away some unwanted stuff and a torn Swiss Army luggage for my aunt.

I used to decorate my home with lots of silk flowers, silk plants and dried floral arrangements. However, I had to get rid of most of the artificial plants and flowers.

I think it’s time to declutter my house again. Whenever I can’t bear with the mess created by my hubby, I have to do the cleaning. Otherwise I will throw tantrums very often when catching the pile of magazines or cushions left in the corner of the living room accumulating dust.

If I don’t do the cleaning job, nobody will. I mean there are only hubby and me at home. He will only help me in mopping the floor or washing the bathroom once in a blue moon.

As usual I will do one task a day, like clearing the living room or wiping the cabinet knobs and windows.

If I can control my mess, I tend to feel calm within and am able to focus on writing reviews and managing my multiple niche blogs.

Your kids are grown and they still constantly leave clothes, shoes and food lying around the house and you’re tired of being their maid. The trick is getting them to clean up after themselves. There are a few different tips that will help in getting your teenager to clean up.

The first thing you need to do while teaching your teenager to clean up is establishing the expectations. You need to enforce the rules, explain to them that cleaning up after themselves is mandatory. There are no longer any options in clean up, it will be done.

Explain the fact that they are old enough to start contributing to the family. Chipping in and helping out around the house will make them feel appreciated and wanted.

Another important tip is making sure that you are matching each chore with your teenager. Don’t assign them something to do that they cannot complete or that may not fit them.

The best way to go about it is to make a list of all the different chores and let them choose with which ones they would like to start. This runs much smoother if you treat them with respect and make sure they understand they have a say in the discussion.

While we may be doing an excellent job of maintaining our living areas, occasionally we need to do more than maintenance. Take the time to review what goes into a living room spring clean up.

Here are tips for spring cleaning your living room:

1. Begin with a 15 minute living room cleanup. This will clear out the clutter and give you room to do the actual spring clean up. Don’t worry about cleaning the floors in the 15 minute clean up. We will do this later.

2. Dust down the ceiling and corners of walls. Determine if the walls need washed in dirty spots. Spot wash, remembering air vents, doorknobs, doors, and switch plates.

3. Dust and clean all art and photographs along the wall. Be careful when cleaning framed art and photographs. Never spray cleanser or water onto the frame. The liquid can seep behind the glass and damage the pictures. Instead lightly wet a clean cloth to wipe the frame and glass.
